Yellowstone Wolves 2020 celebrates the 25th year since the wolves were reintroduced into Yellowstone NP in 1995. In those 25 years, there has been a tradition of an annual chart giving a snapshot of the wolves in the Park. This app brings the content of the 2020 chart to mobile device users. Version 1.2 adds support for large-screen devices (e.g., macOS) & keyboard entry.
The app provides a Map showing the locations of the packs throughout the Park. Touch one of the Pack Territories to see the information for that Pack or touch the Details icon at the bottom of the screen to see information for all Packs. An ancillary function gives statistics of the content of the app.
The Details screen shows information for an individual Pack & its Wolves. An ancillary function interfaces with Yellowstone SPOTR to relate that Pack to Pullouts where the Pack might be seen. Other ancillary functions give statistics about the Pack & a legend. In addition, from Yellowstone SPOTR, you can send a request to Yellowstone Wolves 2020 to show which Packs might be seen from a Pullout.
The Search function allows selection of criteria to see a specific set of Packs & Wolves in the Details screen. Touch an icon at the top of the screen to see statistics of the selected set of Packs & Wolves. For example, the user could search for all collared wolves or all wolves with a specific coat color.
Other material contained on the chart is in the About section of the app. This includes explanations, descriptions, legends & contact information. For example, the user can get information on how to identify Packs and what coat colors are for each Wolf. You can find out how to be a part of the Wolf Restoration managed by the Yellowstone Wolf Project. This section also contains information about the Yellowstone Wolf Family Tree, a collection of the previous years charts & the current years plastic-laminated wolf chart.
Wi-Fi access is not needed to use the app.
